Christie Says He Doesn’t Believe DOJ Has Been Weaponized Under Biden, Wouldn’t Fire Wray

Former Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said Monday he would not fire FBI Director Christopher Wray, saying he disagrees with many Republican lawmakers who claim the Justice Department has been weaponized under the Biden administration.

When CNN host Anderson Copper asked Christie on the CNN City Council whether he thought the Justice Department had been armed against former President Donald Trump, Christie replied, “I don’t think so. No,” he replied. Christie previously told Cooper that Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis had no intention of firing FBI Director Christopher Wray during a May 24 appearance on Fox News Tonight.

Christie said she believed the evidence in the Justice Department’s indictment against Trump was “pretty appalling.” “Anderson, I think it’s a broader question. ‘I think he’s saying,’” Christie continued. President Trump announced on Truth Social Thursday that he was informed by his attorney that he was indicted as a result of an investigation into classified documents he owned in Mar-a-Lago, Fla., that were the subject of a 2022 raid. bottom. DeSantis, South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, and Republican presidential candidates Vivek Ramaswamy, among others, have criticized the indictments.

“I will not keep Chris Wray as FBI director. There will be a new director from day one. I think that is very important,” DeSantis said.

“If he [Wray] I wanted to stay and I’m going to keep him and hold him to the same standards that I just spoke to,” Christie said. “And I gave him a boss as Attorney General, and he has to report to that his boss, and he has to answer everyone at the FBI.”

Led by Mr. Wray, the FBI faces accusations of politicizing the agency over cases involving pro-life advocates, parent protests on school boards and censorship of Big Tech.

DeSantis did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
