Crowd Burts Into Laughter As Biden Has Repeated Microphone Mishaps

On Friday, the crowd in the East Room of the White House burst into laughter over President Joe Biden’s repeated microphone scandals.

The president was addressing the administration’s strategy to reduce health care costs for Americans and to eliminate junk bills from health care.

“This is a big event and I have to thank the staff from the bottom of my heart for their focus on the medical field. Some of this I didn’t know. I was there,” Biden joked, prompting laughter from the crowd.

Then he leaned over the lectern with his microphone malfunctioning.

“I’m sorry,” Mr. Biden said, adding to the laughter from the audience.

A few minutes later, Mr. Biden coughed into the microphone, and it failed again. The crowd laughed at his seemingly confused reaction.

“Okay,” the president said again, moving the handheld microphone, making the audience laugh.

There were more technical issues later in the speech, but Biden continued speaking.

On Thursday, the president made the crowd in South Carolina burst into laughter when he mentioned Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. He argued that his own “bidenomics” policies were spurring an increase in manufacturing facilities in Greene’s district. “One of the biggest ones is in Dalton, Georgia. Believe it or not, that’s the Marjorie Taylor-Green neighborhood. I’m going to be at the groundbreaking ceremony,” Biden said. I laughed with the audience.
