Group pushes for Vail to incorporate into its own town | News

Vail, Arizona (KVOA) – A group of Vail homeowners has launched a campaign to incorporate Vail, Arizona.

Some residents of the southeastern Tucson area want to incorporate the city of Vail into its own town.

“We strongly feel that this is the limit,” said Mariko Tippett, vice president of Incorporated Vail Arizona Group. “This is our chance.”

Tippett and his family have lived in Vail since 2002. Group president David Hook has lived in Vail since his 1980s.

“We’re right next door to the city of Tucson,” Hook said. “They are on our doorstep. If history is our guide, people will continue to migrate to the area and Tucson will continue to expand. One is to put barriers “around us.” ”

“Today is ripe,” added Tippett. “Vail has 21,000 residents, so the state-shared income we receive is financially feasible.”

Both men believe the community will build a solid commercial tax base.

“There are 91 other cities and towns in Arizona, and they can all work well,” Hook said.

Early next week, the Pima County Board of Supervisors will give the Vail, Arizona corporation campaign 28 days to collect more than 1,537 valid signatures for a ballot this fall.

Election day is Tuesday, November 7th.

One resident said, “I am against this because I don’t think there is a basis for this funding to support the incorporation effort.” “There is a lot of hype and urgency created by Incorporate Vail Group.

For those living in Vail, this is an issue that can affect the community for generations.

“This is an opportunity for us to leave a legacy for our children and our children’s children,” Tippett said.
