Thatcher — The Graham County Substance Abuse Coalition is working to keep local teens from slacking off during the school summer holidays.
The coalition has two events scheduled for June. The first is the Coalition partnering with the Gila Valley Adventure Club for a special trip to Mount Graham.
“This is an appreciation hike for the earth and nature with Louis Lorenzo,” said Adventure Club’s Christine Ekval. “I think he’s Apache, but he’s going to talk about some traditions, their music, and the importance of Mount Graham to them. So we’re very excited about that.
The hike begins Saturday, June 10th at 10am. Transportation and lunch are provided. To register your teen, call 928-322-1747.
Six days later, on Friday, June 16, the Substance Abuse Coalition will host its first Summer Bash Family Night of the season at Grant Park in Thatcher.
This free event runs from 5:30pm to 9:30pm and features food, games, prizes and family movies. You can also enjoy activities such as water play and dummy rope play by Thatcher Fire Department.
