Yuma County, Arizona (KYMA, KECY) – Smucker Park and adjacent land will undergo flood control works.
According to a press release, the park at 2913 South Avenue A in Yuma includes:
- Installation of new storm drains and sewer systems
- embankment construction
- street improvement
- Flood mitigation measures
- Installation of water gates
- Building a seawall
- Construction of overflow spillway
- pumping station design
The project will run Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for about a year, according to a press release.
The park will remain open during construction, but the press release states that pedestrian crossings and sidewalks will be “restricted and rerouted on the north side of the park to accommodate construction.”
Additionally, Avenue A, between West 28th Street and West Wetridge Drive, will be closed for approximately two months beginning in February 2024, according to a press release.
