PHOENIX — An inmate’s death is under investigation at the Maricopa County Jail, officials say.
In response to an inquiry from 12News, Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office A female inmate was pronounced dead Saturday. The woman was found unresponsive at around 10:25 a.m. in Estrella Prison.
“MCSO and Correctional Health Service staff provided CPR and other medical aid prior to Phoenix Fire’s arrival,” the sheriff’s office said.
The woman was later pronounced dead by firefighters, the sheriff’s office said.
A prison crime detective is investigating the death of a woman.
