Geronimo — Alcohol is believed to be the cause of a single-vehicle crash that injured two people on Sunday.
The accident occurred at approximately 7:28 p.m. at Milepost 301 on U.S. Highway 70.
Graham County Sheriff’s Deputies reported that the vehicle, which was heading east, crossed the centerline and veered north of the driveway and struck a steel pole outside the Geronimo building.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety reported that when officers arrived at the scene, they found a man lying on the ground outside his vehicle. However, it is unclear whether the man has been ejected.
A woman was trapped in a car and had to be rescued.
Both were taken by ground ambulance to Mount Graham Regional Medical Center. The woman’s injuries were described as “serious”. However, the nature of the injuries was not disclosed. It was announced that the man’s injuries were “not life-threatening.”
An investigation into this incident is ongoing.
