‘Yellowstone’ Star Offers Rare Update On Show’s Future

“Yellowstone” star Luke Grimes offered a rare perspective on the future of the iconic show in an interview published Saturday.

Grimes’ comments about the show’s future weren’t great, but they weren’t terrible either. “The common thread between Yellowstone and my character is that hope never happens,” Grimes said. Said people magazine. “I’ve just learned to accept it as it happens. That’s it.”

As far as fans know, the second half of Yellowstone’s final season has been postponed since at least early 2023, long before the Writers Guild and Screen Actors Guild strikes began. And that doesn’t seem to change much, thanks to series protagonist Kevin Costner’s strikes and ongoing stress.

Costner is in the middle of a messy divorce, has multiple other projects, and apparently doesn’t even like the character John Dutton. Who knows if he will return to finish the show. Costner owes fans and the rest of the “Yellowstone” cast and crew to finish what he started, because that’s the only reason he matters. (Related: “Yellowstone” fans rejoice! More prequels to come)

“We have not [started filming the second half of season 5] It’s because of the writers’ strike,” Grimes continued. “If it weren’t for that, I think we would have been. But it trumps everything. They’ve got to work it all out, and then we’re going to go after it.”

Before Grimes, Costner, and the rest of the “Yellowstone” team return to filming, let’s hope Hollywood doesn’t completely cannibalize them.
