Police ID 5 kids killed in Bullhead City house fire

Bullhead City, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) — Bullhead City Police have released the names of the five children killed in a house fire last month.

Four siblings were killed: 13-year-old John Jones III, 5-year-old Zane Jones, 4-year-old Freya Jones, 2-year-old Elias Jones, and their cousin, 11-year-old Henry Lewis. Ta. They were later positively identified by the Mohave County Coroner's Office.

That Saturday afternoon, the children were on the second floor of a duplex home near the Colorado River northwest of Hancock and Lamar streets when a fire broke out in the first-floor porch. The fire then moved up the stairs, leaving the children unable to escape safely. Neighbors reported the fire around 4:54 p.m., and the Bullhead City Fire Department arrived five minutes later.

Police later confirmed that no adults were in the home at the time of the fire. The brothers' father told investigators that they had been out for about two and a half hours to buy groceries and gifts.

Bullhead City Police said Tuesday the cause of the fire is still unknown. Chemists and electrical engineers are analyzing debris from the fire in the ATF laboratory, a process that could take months to determine the source of the fire.

Bullhead City Police said four of the children killed in the fire were siblings, and the fifth was a relative visiting. (Source: azfamily)
