Governor Doug Ducey today announced the appointment of Nathaniel Sorenson to the Yuma County Superior Court.
“Nathaniel brings extensive prosecutorial and courtroom experience to the Yuma County Superior Court,” Ducey said. “I have tremendous confidence in Nathaniel’s ability to serve the residents of Yuma County and Arizona and serve as a Superior Court Judge.”
Nathaniel has been a prosecutor with the Yuma County Attorney’s Office since 2011. He has handled thousands of criminal cases and made over 3,600 court appearances. Prior to joining the Yuma County Attorney’s Office, Nathaniel served as a clerk to two judges in Nevada’s 7th Judicial District.
In addition to his duties as a public prosecutor, Nathaniel is a professor in the Criminal Justice Program at Arizona State University in Yuma and the Paralegal Program at Arizona Western College, teaching courses in business law, probate law, contracts and criminal justice. was
Nathaniel is deeply invested in serving the Yuma community. He volunteered regularly with the Boy Scouts of America organization, where he mentored young men and helped them succeed in Scouting. are doing
Nathaniel graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education. He then earned a law degree from the University of Arizona School of Law.
Nathaniel’s appointment fills the remaining term of office left vacant by the retirement of Yuma County Superior Court Judge Brandon Kinsey.
