“I think in the best case, AI will solve some difficult problems… including polarization, because that can destroy democracy and it can be very bad,” Gates said. he said.

In their podcast, Gates and Altman also discussed the potential for AI to establish world peace.
“Can AI help reduce wars and reduce polarization? When you promote intelligence, you would think that it is common sense not to polarize and it is common sense not to fight wars, but many people I think I'm skeptical,” Gates said. “We want people to join us who are tackling some of the most difficult human problems, such as how we get along with each other. I think that’s a very positive thing.”
“I believe the upside is going to surprise us,” Altman said. “This technology will surprise us with how much it can do. We'll have to look into it and see, but I'm very optimistic. I also agree with you , what a contribution that would be.”
