Registration for Verde Valley will begin on January 22, 2024 to commemorate the reopening of Yavapai County Citizens Academy after being suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This educational initiative provides Yavapai County residents with an insightful understanding of the inner workings of government, fosters open communication channels, and educates residents about how county services impact residents' daily lives. It is intended to provide clarity.

Applicants wishing to join Citizens Academy must complete the application process online. Yavapai AZ.GOV. Throughout the course, participants will engage with the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors, county leaders, and other residents in a collaborative and helpful manner. Upon completion of the course, participants will gain a better understanding of the structural framework and operations of the county's various departments that contribute to the well-being of the community.
Citizens Academy is free and open to Yavapai County residents ages 18 and older. This comprehensive 8-week program will run from March 12, 2024 until April 30, 2024, on 10 S. 6.th Street at Cottonwood, 5:30pm to 7:30pm, includes dinner. The capacity is 20 people, and applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
It is important to note that Citizens Academy applicants must be able to attend at least 7 of the 8 classes. These classes are not intended for political discussion, but rather to encourage questions and promote learning.
