During Monday's episode of “The Read Out,” a hot mic caught MSNBC's Joy Reid accusing President Joe Biden of “starting another fucking war.”
Reade tried to blame Republicans for the border crisis when she played a video of Biden saying he would close the border.
“Republicans in Congress like to cling to the successful policies of President Biden and the Democrats and take credit for things they didn't do, all the while demanding that the American people do the same for Donald Trump. I'm tied up in a pretzel trying to do anything for you,” Reed began. “A case in point is the border crisis, which they claim is due to Congressional negotiators continuing to work toward a bipartisan agreement that would link border policy changes to funding for Ukraine. President Biden said over the weekend that he is ready to take action if Congress is serious about solving the border problem. Reade then played two videos of Biden, one of which said he would immediately close the border if the bill were passed today.
Suddenly, when Reade was captured off camera saying, “We're going to start another fucking war,” Biden added, “And Congress needs to get it done.”
The audio then quickly cut out, and Reade's sentence was cut off by the audio before she continued to criticize Trump for not having passed the bill yet.
The Senate is currently negotiating a bill that, in its latest version, would trigger a “forced closure” if 5,000 or more immigrants are apprehended at the border. Migrants who arrive after the 5,000 limit is reached will not have their asylum claims processed and will be immediately expelled. This policy will continue for two weeks until the average number of encounters per day falls below 3,750 people.
Biden said the new bill would “give us emergency powers to close the border until we get it back under control.” If that bill were the law today, I would close the borders right now and fix it right away. ”
Reade's “war” comment was likely a reference to the White House, which said the nation would respond to a drone attack in Jordan that killed three service members and injured dozens more.
