43 dogs found on Dolan Spring properties | Kingman Daily Miner

Dolan Springs — More than 40 dogs were seized and arrested from the Dolan Springs residence.

According to a Mojave County Sheriff’s Office press release, the MCSO’s Animal Control Service has filed ongoing complaints about animal hoarding at two separate residences in the Dolan Springs area. On January 11, her 77-year-old Betty Lynn Fuchsel was charged with her 43 counts of animal cruelty, a class 5 felony.

Following her arrest, a search warrant was obtained for her property.

Law enforcement said some of these animals had run amok and were attacking livestock in the area. The residences at Block 15000 on N. Garnet Drive and Block 16000 on N. Kathleen Drive were both used by Fuchsel. Over the past few years, Fuchsel has received several subpoenas related to violations, but has not complied or appeared in court. She was detained for an arrest warrant issued for failing to appear for these charges in addition to additional animal cruelty charges.

Upon entering the two dwellings, we found the floors covered in feces, garbage and urine. Several dogs were found confined within the residence and in vehicles on the property with no access to food or water. Law enforcement reported that the dog was found to be emaciated and neglected in various stages.

A total of 43 dogs were seized during a search of the property. Some were taken for urgent veterinary care. The animal was turned over to the Mojave County Animal Sanctuary.

Mojave County animal shelters “are in dire need” of igloos and homes for their dogs, according to a Facebook post. They are also asking for monetary donations to help pay for the supplies and medical needs of the 43 dogs.

“There is unity in numbers. You may not think your money matters, but it does,” the animal shelter wrote.

Donations can be made at friendsofmcas.org or in person at 950 Buchanan St. in Kingman. The dog is not yet available for adoption and an investigation is underway.
