Video Shows Brave 12-Year-Old Girl Swinging Snake To Save Guinea Pig

A dramatic video was released on Sunday of the moment a 12-year-old Australian girl saved a guinea pig from an eight-foot python.

Rosie Whitman was looking for her pet guinea pig, Maxibon, in the bushes of her garden when she found it in the jaws of a large snake. ABC7. Rosie immediately sprang into her action, grabbing her python and swinging it wildly in circles, trying to free her maxibon.

Rosie's father, Luke Wightman, said he heard his daughter “screaming at the top of her lungs”.

Mr Wightman, who went out into the garden, saw her swinging the snake around “like a hammer thrower” before helping her free the guinea pig and throw the snake against the garden wall.

“I realized that wasn't ideal, so I gave chase and watched it slide away unscathed, although I felt a little dizzy,” Whitman said, according to Storyful.

Rosie's uncle, Brisbane radio presenter Kip Wightman, shared footage of his niece's heroic rescue of Maxibon on Instagram.

Rosie's father said Rosie was “doing great” and was “very relieved that Maxibon survived.”

Maxibon is doing well and acting “like nothing happened,” Luke said, adding that the guinea pig is “getting along well with his little brother Yochi.”

Luke told 7News Australia he was “proud” of his daughter for having “the courage to pick up the snake and save the life of a pet”.
