Thanks to Dobbs' decision and pro-life leaders, 24 states have enacted laws protecting unborn children after 12 weeks of age. Abortion activists are using the voting system to reverse that progress and make abortion available to everyone, anytime and anywhere. These activists are targeting 10 pro-life states with pro-life laws. 30,000 A baby that stays in your womb every year.
The proposed constitutional amendments go far beyond Roe's proposals to establish unlimited abortion, water down parental rights, and remove women's health and safety requirements. Although some of the measures include the word “viability,” the law's broad exemptions will ultimately allow elective abortions in all nine months. Ohio Democrats have introduced a bill to do this following the first vote, which identifies policy issues they are pursuing but were rejected during the amendment campaign. (Judge Andrew P. Napolitano: Fishermen's groups can help unravel the administrative state)
Under these ballot measures, girls who are not old enough to pierce their own ears would be able to obtain abortions without their parents' knowledge. Abortions do not need to be performed by a doctor, and the abortion facility does not need to be near a hospital or have admitting privileges, putting women at serious risk. Following the passage of Proposition 1, Democratic Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer just signed a new law in Michigan that eliminates health and safety requirements for women.
Past losses show that the pro-life side is struggling. We vastly outspent every election because outside left-wing groups and abortion lobbies poured in tens of millions of dollars. In Ohio and other states, the lies of abortion activists were fed by left-wing media outlets that function like the abortion industry's public relations arm. The media repeatedly masked their opinion pieces as “news” and repeatedly cited the statements of so-called “independent experts” who were documented leftists when fact-checking.
Pro-life and Republican leaders must join the voting bill fight now by raising money and speaking out against them.
In South Dakota, where I live, support and opposition to this ballot measure are virtually even, with a majority of women opposed. why is that? Because Planned Parenthood and the ACLU are leaving it alone and not pouring money into the race. This shows how important money is to getting your message across.
As we saw in Ohio in the final weeks of the campaign, more Republican elected officials need to speak out to block ballot measures. As Gov. Mike DeWine and Sen. J.D. Vance spoke out against Issue 1, we extended our support. But the August election cut short the amount of time the governor and other lawmakers had to speak out on ballot measures.
Pro-life officials in states where fighting will occur in 2024 should sound the alarm now to let the public know how extreme these measures really are and to clarify exactly what their state laws are doing. need to be clarified. As the media and Hollywood seek to drown out the voices of pro-life advocates in states, it is critical that elected officials and pro-life advocates have a platform to speak out publicly.
The attorney general must also fulfill his responsibilities to prevent deception and ensure that abortion activists do not violate the law. In Montana, Attorney General Austin Knudsen rejected a misleading abortion ballot measure, saying it bundled multiple options into one initiative and would prevent Montanans from passing future abortion regulations.
In Arkansas, state Attorney General Tim Griffin is asking activists to rewrite the proposed text because it was misleading. Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody called the abortion amendment one of the worst he's ever seen in terms of language that misleads voters, and why sponsors have no idea when abortion rights end. He questioned whether the government did not clearly explain what it would do.
In South Dakota, state Attorney General Marty Jackley admonished abortion activists for illegally tricking voters into signing petitions. He said: “Your proposed abortion amendment, which would only make abortion legal in the first trimester, is contrary to the text of the amendment.”
To win these ballot measures, the pro-life side successfully countered misinformation spread by abortion activists, primarily that pregnant women would not have access to emergency medical care unless the Constitution enshrined unlimited abortion. must be exposed. Not only does this mislead voters, but it also puts pregnant women at risk by creating confusion about whether the care they need for miscarriages, ectopic pregnancies, complications, and more is available at home in each state.the truth is that all states In this country with pro-life laws, there is a maternal life exception that allows pregnant women to receive timely and necessary care in emergencies.
Voting measures have long been a challenge for the pro-life movement, but we must remember that human rights struggles are not won overnight. Throughout history, it has taken time and persistence to right great injustices.of dobbs This victory was a significant step forward, but like other major status quo changes in our nation's history, it will take time for the law to reflect the reality of that decision.
We will work persistently to counter the 50-year political monopoly of the abortion industry and the deep-seated lies sown by abortion activists to justify taking the lives of more than 63 million babies in the womb. Must be. Future generations are counting on us.
