Biden told a crowd of donors in New York on Wednesday that he recently spoke with German Chancellor Helmut Kohl, seven years after his death, during the 2021 Group of Seven Summit. “And Helmut Kohl turned to me and said, “Mr. President, if you pick up the London Times and a thousand people break down the doors of the British Parliament and kill a few bovies along the way, What would you say if you found out that he did this?' To refuse to serve as prime minister?'' Biden told donors on Wednesday, according to Bloomberg.
Mr. Biden then appeared at another New York fundraising event late Wednesday, repeating the same story and again appearing to confuse Mr. Kohl with Ms. Merkel. Earlier this week, Biden caused another mix-up during a campaign speech in Las Vegas when he said he had recently spoken to former French President Francois Mitterrand, who died in 1996.
