Meet Blizzard, an 11-month-old American Pit Bull Terrier who started life as a stray dog. After less than a year on this earth, Blizzard was already having to fend for himself on the streets of Phoenix. Last December, a good Samaritan reported seeing the puppy hit by a car on a security camera, and Blizzard was rescued by a field team and immediately admitted to a trauma hospital for evaluation. Our veterinarian noticed that the puppy was clearly uncomfortable during the examination and was unable to stand on his own. This observation led to X-rays, which revealed that Blizzard's pelvis was fractured and would take time to heal. The pup spent several weeks recovering in a loving foster hero home where he could rest in a quiet and quiet environment for optimal rehabilitation. As of January 23rd, Blizzard is officially up for adoption and is very excited to meet everyone interested in getting to know him. It's still important to take things slow and steady so the pelvis continues to heal properly, but he has a long life ahead of him before he can be someone's perfect playmate. He is sociable and loves meeting new people and dogs, which he greets with an excited wag of his tail. His adoption fee is $210 and more information can be found at azhumane.org/adopt.AHS
