MHI RJ Aviation Group Plans Workforce Expansion in Tucson, AZ

MHI RJ (MHIRJ) Aviation Group, a provider of maintenance, repair and overhaul services, plans to hire its first 100 new employees in 2024 as it aims to meet customer demand. Open positions include avionics technicians, structural engineers, machinists/welders, crew chiefs, and NDT technicians.

According to Ross Mitchell, MHIRJ's vice president of strategy, business development, marketing, communications and business operations, as part of the company's recruiting strategy, Pima Community College (PCC) will receive a $1,000 annual scholarship for the next six years. This includes supporting the foundation.

“We believe investing in Tucson’s youth is extremely important,” Mitchell said. “Labor shortages in the airline industry make it imperative for airlines to attract young talent.”

Jason Bowersock, director of aviation at PCC, said the college is grateful for the MHIRJ scholarship opportunity.

“For many full-time students, it is difficult to earn a mechanic certification while working,” Bowersock says. “Gifts from our generous industry partners will ensure the academic success of our students.”

MHIRJ also launched “Live Your Best Life in Tucson,” a national talent attraction effort.

In addition to PCC and ACA, the following organizations are involved in this project: Sun Corridor Inc., Pima County, City of Tucson, and Tucson Airport Authority.
