A post shared on Instagram said Cochrane died under mysterious circumstances. The post includes a video of Cochran speaking about his lawsuit against the federal government.

Cochrane did not die mysteriously. In 2003 he was diagnosed with a brain tumor and in 2005 died According to , due to complications of the disease Los Angeles Times.
