‘His Record Is What’s On Trial’: Josh Hawley Torches Biden Over Damaging Policy Fallout

Republican Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri blasted the impact of President Joe Biden's policies on Fox News on Tuesday.

Senator Hawley appeared on “The Ingraham Angle” on Thursday to discuss the first presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and former Vice President Biden. After a clip of reporter Maggie Haberman saying in a CNN interview that she was worried about Trump being “very mean,” Fox guest host Kayleigh McEnany asked him about the comment. “Well, the biggest concern should be the facts,” Hawley said. “So the question I would pose to Joe Biden is: [and] I ask the American people: Do you like chaos here? Because that is the reality under Joe Biden. Do you like chaos at home? Do you like chaos overseas? How many wars were we in when Donald Trump was president? Zero. How many wars are we in under Joe Biden? It's hard to count.”

“What was gas like under Donald Trump? You could afford gas,” he continued. “And now? Nobody can put gas in their car. The list goes on and on. It's total chaos and disaster, Kaylee, which is why Biden wants to talk about everything else but his record, but it's his record that's on trial here. This is a referendum on him. That's what this election is about.”

McEnany highlighted Hillary Clinton's recent New York Times op-ed in which she said her expectations of Trump were “very low,” and continued to call for a “referendum on Trump and his character.”

“This election is about Joe Biden and what he's done for this country,” Hawley responded. “It's a national choice. [of] Joe Biden? Do you like paying this much for gas? Do you like your mortgage being this high? Do you like interest rates at this level? Do you like 9 million illegal immigrants coming into this country and committing these crimes? That's what it's about. It's about Joe Biden. The choice is very simple. If you don't want your life, your kids, your neighborhood to be thrown into complete chaos, vote for Trump.”

Polls continue to show that voters' top concerns are about the economy and border security, with many skeptical that Biden can bring solutions in a second term. A March poll showed: carried out According to Gallup, the top national issues for Americans are crime and violence, hunger and homelessness, the economy, health care availability and affordability, and federal spending and the budget deficit.

Other issues about which voters are “very concerned,” according to the data, include illegal immigration, drug use, Social Security and the possibility of future terrorist attacks in the United States, all of which received support of more than 40 percent.
