Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Participates in Click It or Ticket Campaign to Enhance Road Safety | Prescott Valley Times local news

The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office, along with other local enforcement officers, is teaming up with the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Arizona Governor's Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) to remind drivers to wear their seat belts and slow down during a nationwide “Click It or Ticket” high visibility seat belt enforcement effort, which will run from May 20 to June 2, 2024, coinciding with the Memorial Day holiday.

Friday, May 31stYCSO focused on a dangerous section of U.S. Highway 93 in Yavapai County between Wickenburg and Las Vegas. This section is notorious for many fatal and avoidable crashes. YCSO deployed several deputies, sergeants and lieutenants to stop speeders and other dangerous drivers. On that day alone, the team conducted 22 traffic stops, one seat belt violation, four criminal speeding tickets, 13 civil speeding tickets and four other non-speeding tickets.

Total statistics for the campaign – 85 traffic stops, 36 sober designated drivers contacted, 8 seat belt tickets, 9 criminal speeding tickets, 27 civil speeding tickets, 32 other non-speed related tickets, 3 arrests.

As part of the campaign, YCSO recorded several interactions to inform and encourage drivers to drive safely.
