Yavapai County Attorney Warns Residents of Scammers Impersonating Sheriff’s Office Employees | Prescott Valley Times local news

Yavapai County Attorney Dennis McGrane announced on June 6, 2024 that some Yavapai County residents have recently been targeted by scammers claiming to be Yavapai County Sheriff's Office employees. Scammers can use technology to make it appear as if they are calling from actual phone numbers associated with the Sheriff's Office, or other numbers such as 928-361-9187.

County Attorney McGrain said legitimate law enforcement officers will never threaten arrest unless money is paid, nor will officers call residents to solicit or request donations. McGrain said if a scammer calls, hang up and report them to your local law enforcement agency. YCSO can be reached at 928-771-3260 or 928-771-3299.

“We encourage anyone who has been targeted by scammers to immediately report the perpetrators to police so they can be identified and arrested. Criminals who attempt to scam innocent people out of their hard-earned money are despicable and will be prosecuted harshly in Yavapai County,” said County Attorney Dennis McGrane.
