Biden Admin Says It Opposes Sex-Change Surgeries For Minors, But Evidence Paints A Different Picture

The Biden administration has done its best to dispel the impression that it supports sex-reassignment surgery for minors, but it has repeatedly supported challenges to state bans covering the procedure and worked closely with powerful groups to promote the procedure.

A Daily Caller News Foundation investigation has revealed that WPATH's top doctors acknowledged and spoke out against the risks of irreversible gender reassignment surgery behind the scenes, according to exclusive video footage. Recently unsealed court documents cite an unpublished report written by Canadian sex researcher James Cantor concluding that WPATH views “evidence-based” medicine as a threat to its “policy goals” and therefore that WPATH’s Standards of Care Version 8 (SoC 8) guidelines are subject to “political pressure, litigation, legislative advocacy strategies, and the financial self-interest of WPATH members.”

WPATH originally set age limits at 14 for hormone therapy, 15 for mastectomy, 16 for facial plastic surgery and breast augmentation, and 17 for castration and hysterectomy, according to the 2021 draft guidelines.

Kanter's report also uncovered internal WPATH communications showing that Levin had been pushing to shape the SoC 8 guidelines to align with the Biden administration's political goals. The report also noted that staff members suggested removing “specific age listings,” which “could lead to devastating legislation for transgender care.”

“Just spoke with Admiral Levin today. He is very supportive of SOC 8 as always, but is also very eager for its release to ensure it is incorporated into the Biden Administration's U.S. health policy,” one WPATH member said in an email. “Now, let's get to work!!!”

The Biden administration has repeatedly touted court cases that oppose bans on sex-reassignment surgery for minors. press release The White House announced that starting in March 2023, it will “intervene legally when states violate the rights of transgender young people and their families.”
