YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – Free cooling centers are being offered across Yuma County as extreme heat continues through the weekend and into next week.
There are 10 cooling centers. They are located throughout Yuma, the Foothills and Wellton, including the Yuma County Heritage Library, the Yuma Community Food Bank and the Crossroads Mission.
Additionally, there are nine cooling centers in San Luis and Summerton in southern Yuma County.
“Not only do they provide relief from the heat, they provide water, and it's self-funded for businesses that want to participate, so it's a resource for everyone in the community,” said Arlyn Galaviz, communications director for Yuma County.
The National Weather Service (NWS) said it expects high temperatures to continue into next week as June has been the driest month on record.
