‘It Doesn’t Get Better’: ABC’s Martha Raddatz Highlights Fallout Following Biden’s First Post-Debate Interview

ABC News host Martha Raddatz highlighted the aftermath Friday night, when President Joe Biden gave his first post-debate interview with the network's George Stephanopoulos.

Biden dismissed the drop in his approval rating, claiming his performance in the taped debate was a “bad night.” interview After the interview aired on Friday night, Raddatz joined Stephanopoulos in saying Biden “is not going to be better” by November.

“Nobody can stop the clock, and this is about age,” Raddatz said. “That's what it's about. And that's what this campaign is about. Aging isn't like a broken bone. It doesn't get better. So every time Joe Biden goes out there, it's an opportunity for him to let his age show. I mean, he said he's not weaker than he was. You're asking him, you're saying, 'Watch me.' Everybody's watching me. And believe me, they're going to be watching even more closely as we move forward.”

Raddatz also told Stephanopoulos that Biden was listening to “very close associates,” reportedly including first lady Jill Biden. Raddatz further claimed that Biden administration officials told her that Jill Biden would “violently attack” anyone who suggested her husband not run for reelection in 2024. “Administration officials I've spoken to say very close aides say Trump can win and that he should keep fighting, and that includes, of course, his wife, Jill, who they say has strongly criticized those calling for him to drop out of the race,” Raddatz said.

Biden briefly cut off Stephanopoulos from asking if he was “more frail than he was before.” The 81-year-old president told Stephanopoulos he was “still in good health” and was “taking cognitive tests every day.”
