VIDEO: New Footage Shows Cops Shoot Suspect Holding Up Popular Lingerie Store With Shopper, Staff At Knifepoint

Newly released body camera footage shows the intense moments when police shot and killed a man at knifepoint while holding two hostages inside a Victoria's Secret store in Miami Beach last year.

Officers repeatedly warned the suspect, Darian Young, 29, seen on video, to drop the knife and end the armed hostage situation, but Miami Beach Police Officer Corey Jackson was forced to open fire when Young refused to comply with officers' commands, according to body camera footage obtained. Local 10 It was revealed that the fatal shot was fired at close range.

The police presence began after Young was accused of shoplifting at the store, and things seemed to only get worse from there.

In the video, the suspect is seen holding two women at knifepoint, one a Victoria's Secret employee and the other a shopper.

The Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office said the use of force seen in the video was “legally justified,” according to the outlet.

Their pleading voices could be heard in the background before police opened fire.

“Your life is not over. I swear to God you're OK. We just want you to drop the knife,” one of the officers said.

At one point, he said that if they started counting, someone would die, according to the outlet.

A few minutes later, Jackson opened fire.

Young did not die at the scene and was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center, where he died from the aforementioned gunshot wounds.

Both Officer Jackson and the two female hostages walked away from the incident unharmed.

Days before the shooting, Young escaped from the New Hampshire Department of Corrections' Calumet House Transitional Detention Facility on July 21, 2023.

Less than a week later, he passed away.
