Meet Maxine, a 3-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier mix who has been in the custody of the Arizona Humane Society for 55 days. In April, our field team rescued her from poor living conditions with no shelter or water. She was then admitted to our trauma hospital, where we had to immediately begin treatment for an ear infection and Valley Fever. Despite a lot of poking and prodding during her recovery, Maxine was always sweet and friendly, and enjoyed being the center of attention. Most of her time in our custody was spent at the PetSmart Scottsdale store, where volunteers walk her through the shopping plaza to meet everyone who works at the nearby businesses. Recently, when Maxine stopped by a nearby hair salon, she flopped into the chair and was treated like a queen by all the stylists (photo included).
