Federal oversight announced for Maricopa County’s July 30 Primary Election | News

TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) — The Department of Justice announced it will be monitoring Maricopa County, Arizona, during the July 30 primary election to ensure compliance with federal Voting Rights Act.

The Department of Justice upholds federal voting rights laws to ensure that all Americans can vote. The Department of Justice monitors elections across the country to ensure they comply with civil rights laws and deploys federal monitors when required by court order.

The Civil Rights Division's Voting Section works with the U.S. Attorney's Office to enforce various federal laws, including the Voting Rights Act and the National Voter Registration Act, and protect the right to vote.
