‘Say It To My Face!’: Kamala Harris Challenges Trump To Accept Showdown On Debate Stage

Vice President Kamala Harris challenged former Republican President Donald Trump to a one-on-one debate Tuesday night, then criticized him for refusing to do so.

Since President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race, Trump has repeatedly vowed to debate Harris, but warned of concerns about ABC News hosting the debate. Harris appeared on stage at a campaign rally in Atlanta to tell supporters about her plans as the party's new presidential candidate.

“So, here's the thing. Here's the interesting part,” Harris said. “He's not doing the debates, but it seems like he and his running mate have a lot to say about me.”

“By the way, don't you think some of the things they're saying are just bizarre? Donald, I hope you'll reconsider meeting me on the debate stage. As the saying goes, 'If you have something to say, say it to my face!'” Harris exclaimed.

Harris was quickly endorsed by the president and Democratic lawmakers after Biden gave up his reelection bid on July 21, and last week secured enough delegates to clinch the provisional nomination. In a July 23 call with reporters, Trump said he would “absolutely” debate the vice president, emphasizing that he intends to debate multiple times.
