Famed country singer and “American Idol” winner Scotty McCreery canceled a concert scheduled for August 24 at the Colorado State Fair after witnessing an incident in which a man allegedly punched a woman in the audience.
McCreery had just finished enthralling the crowd by telling them he was going to play his wife's favorite song, “It Matters To Her,” when he suddenly stopped playing and spoke out about what was happening in the crowd. A video clip of the moment was shared online by concert-goer Jessica Rosario.
“As he began to sing, he noticed a man who had allegedly hit a woman, so he stopped the show and had security remove him,” Rosario said. peopleIn the video, McCreery can be seen pointing down and calling for police and security guards for assistance.
“Here's the woman you just hit,” McCreary claims in the video.
“Absolutely not. You just hit a woman. Police? Security? Is she OK?” the star continued.
He spoke to the man and reprimanded him for his alleged behaviour.
“Get out of here!” he said.
The crowd could be heard moving and talking, and there was silence for a few moments as people ran to help the woman, who was clearly in distress.

McCreary refused to continue questioning until the case was resolved and criticised the suspect.
“On God's green earth. At a Scotty McCreery show? What are you doing?” the famous singer said.
He asked fans to support law enforcement officers on the scene.
“Tell the police who ran over the woman, this is simply not acceptable.”
McCreery addressed the crowd before resuming his performance.

“Did you get him? Is he OK down there?” McCreary asked, as people pointed to a person who appeared to have been taken from the area.
“Whoever hits a woman is a coward and should get out of here!” he added.
“We can confirm that an incident occurred at a Scotty McCreery concert where a man assaulted a woman, resulting in the performer canceling the show,” Olga Robach, public affairs director for the Colorado Department of Agriculture, told People.
“As this matter remains under investigation, I cannot comment further,” she told People magazine.
The identities of those reportedly involved in the incident have not been released, and it is unclear whether any arrests have been made, the media outlet reported. (Related: Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl cancels concert to calm crowd disturbances)
