Officials said Jose Flores died Monday night at the Pima County Adult Detention Center.

Jose Flores, 61, was found unresponsive in his cell at the Pima County Adult Detention Center on January 23. Pima County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.
Flores was discovered at 10:15 p.m., while corrections officers were patrolling the facility.
After discovering Flores, corrections officers began attempting life-saving measures while waiting for medical staff and the Tucson Fire Department to arrive, the sheriff’s department said.
Medical personnel arrive and attempt to resuscitate Flores, but are unsuccessful and are pronounced dead.
The sheriff’s office said detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division responded to the prison and found no signs of trauma or suspicious circumstances in Flores.
Flores has been in detention since January 16. He was being held in a medical unit to recover from a “major medical procedure.” Authorities said he was facing multiple charges of aggravated assault and terrorism.
Flores’ cause of death remains unknown.
