KHOU 11 reported Wednesday that video captured the moment a Houston man was nearly killed when he was hit by a large truck that ran a red light.
Kennard Robinson was driving just a few minutes from his home when the rig slammed into his vehicle and fled the scene of the accident, police said. KHOU11.
“I saw something flying towards me, coming really fast, and I was like, what is that?” Robinson told KHOU11. (RELATED: Shocking hit-and-run caught on camera while news crew was filming interview)

The video shows Robinson's car beginning to move forward as the light turns green. Moments later, a large truck comes into view and slams the side of the truck into the front of Robinson's four-door sedan. The video then shows Robinson's damaged, smoking car slowly rolling into the middle of the intersection.
“He punched me, he knocked me down,” Kennard said, “and all I remember is I was knocked unconscious. I was unconscious for a little bit.”
KHOU11 reported that Kennard's wife, Brittany, was waiting for her husband to get home when he contacted her by phone.
“When I got that call, my heart sank,” Brittany said.
Kennard was shaken by the accident and told KHOU11, “I'm scared to even go out and drive. I'm happy to be here. My life could have been taken in a matter of seconds. I'm thankful I'm still here.”
The couple now hopes police will get the truck driver off the road, KHOU11 reports.
“It's just despicable, to be honest,” Brittany said. “How can someone drive that fast and have no regard for other people's lives? It breaks my heart every time I see that video.”
According to KHOU11, Kennard and his wife are praying that available dash cam footage will help police in their search for the suspect.
“We will not rest until we have fully resolved this case,” Brittany said, “We ask that whoever this person is, do the right thing and turn themselves in.”
Although several more medical tests need to be completed, Kennard is expected to make a full recovery.
