‘The Country’s At Risk’: James Carville Melts Down And Demands Ex-Trump Officials Bend The Knee To Harris

Democratic strategist James Carville, on a podcast Thursday, called on former officials from former President Donald Trump's administration to clarify that they intend to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris in the November election.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney and his daughter, former Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney of Wyoming, both recently announced they would be voting for Harris.Political War Room” specifically called on Trump’s former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and former Secretary of Defense James Mattis to declare that they would vote for the vice president, suggesting they should work together to save the country from the former president. (Related: Kamala Harris once thought a border wall was “un-American.” Now she supports it.)

listen:

“You can say good things about Dick Cheney. He said, 'I'm voting for Harris. Period. I'm not going to name anybody, but I'm going to say Rex Tillerson and Jim Mattis,'” Carville said. “If you hear one more time that you think Trump is a buffoon or an idiot, why don't you say anything? Are you scared that someone won't play gin rummy with you at the Dallas Country Club? Or that some retired four-star general won't have dinner with you and your wife at the Officers Club?”

“Guys, our country is in danger. If you know something, speak up, like Cheney did. You don't have to endorse Kamala Harris like Liz did, but just make a statement saying, 'I'm voting for Harris,' and nothing more,” he continued. “Why sit back and watch this motherfucker have a chance to win?”

MSNBC analyst Donny Deutsch in June called for the military to launch an anti-Trump ad campaign ahead of the November election. Deutsch specifically suggested that Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, former National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster and former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley join the campaign, which he said could help tilt voters against Trump.

“I think the most persuasive ad campaign will be centered around the military,” Deutsch said. “You could have Mattis, McMaster, Milley and Kelly standing in front of a screen and saying, 'This country can't stand Donald Trump. This country's defense can't stand Donald Trump. We are great Americans. We believe in this country. We trust this country. We know this country. We can't vote for Donald Trump.' I think the military is the secret weapon in this election, and I hope those ads pay off.”
