The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office issued evacuation orders Monday for a fire near Yarnell.
Yarnell, Ariz. — Some Yarnell-area residents were given a “GO” evacuation order Monday due to a fire.
Residents living near Yarnell Elementary School were told to gather essential supplies and evacuate their homes. The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office said the fire could threaten up to 14 homes near Crest Way and Luca Way.
At 5 p.m., the sheriff's office announced the “GO” order had been reverted to “SET,” meaning residents who do not live on Crest Way could return to their homes.
Residents living on the east and west sides of the evacuation zone will be placed in “SET” status and must prepare to evacuate if necessary.
State officials said the fire is estimated to be at least 20 acres in size and is burning within the remains of the earlier Tenderfoot Fire.
This is an ongoing story and more details will be released as they become available.
