Elon Musk increased his political donations in August, making it his largest donation to date, the National Republican Congressional Committee reported in a Federal Election Commission filing on Friday, Politico reported.
The Republican National Congressional Committee (NRCC) reported a $289,100 donation from Musk to bolster Republican efforts to retain control of the House of Representatives. Ken Calvert's joint fundraising committee and was earmarked primarily for the NRCC's convention and headquarters activities.

The super PAC recently underwent a change in leadership and is beginning to have an impact in tight House races across the country, playing a key role in driving voter turnout, Politico reported. While the $289,100 disclosed to the NRCC is a significant donation, it's believed Musk may have given even more to the U.S. PAC. Because super PACs can accept unlimited amounts of money from individuals, Politico reports that further details about Musk's donation total are likely to become available when America PAC releases its third-quarter financial report on October 15. Despite Musk's donation, the NRCC raised just $9.7 million in total in August, far short of the $22.2 million raised by the Democratic NRCC, according to Politico.
