YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – The recount results for two very close races in Yuma County have been released, showing the top two vote-getters still received enough votes to win the race. was shown.
Judge Roger Nelson announced the results this morning. As a result, David Lara is the official winner of the Yuma County Recorder race on the Republican side, and Tony Reyes has been announced as Yuma County Supervisor for District 4.
Both candidates appeared in court this morning to hear the results.
“I have to thank everyone. I'm glad this is over. I was very excited,” Yuma County Recorder Candidate David Lara said. “Now I have to work on the general election and win over the hearts of those who didn't vote for me. Hopefully I can convince them.”
Supervisor Tony Reyes also expressed his gratitude.
“I'm grateful and I want to congratulate the opposition. They did a good job. Obviously, this election was close. First of all I want to thank the team, because without them I wouldn't have been able to do this.” I wouldn't have been able to do that. The District 4 race was one of the closest Yuma County has seen in recent years, with the difference being just three votes. Tony Reyes received 830 votes. Candidate Luisa Arreola received 827 votes. In the recorder race, Lara received 6,022 votes. Candidate Richard Colwell received 5,977 votes.
