JD Vance’s Mic Cut As He Tries To Counter Moderator’s Fact Check On Springfield Migrants

Sen. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio, was taken to the microphone by a CBS host Tuesday night as he tried to fact-check claims about Haitian immigrants being sent to Springfield, Ohio, during the first vice presidential debate. It was cut.

During the debate, CBS host Margaret Brennan asked the candidates about illegal immigration, and Vance cited up to 20,000 Haitian immigrants flocking to Springfield, Ohio, in the past three years. expressed concern about the impact it would have on Americans. After Waltz retorted, Brennan tried to move on. add Because Haitian immigrants claimed to have “legal status,” Vance challenged the network's fact-checking rules, interrupting by pointing out that the immigrants entered Haiti through asylum applications.

“I want to be clear to our viewers: Springfield, Ohio has a large population of Haitian immigrants with legal status and temporary protected status,” Brennan said.

“But Margaret…I think it's important to look at the economics right now. The rules were you don't fact check me, and you fact check me, so what actually happened? “I think it's important to say what's going on,” Vance said. “There is an application called the CBP One app that, on the wave of Kamala Harris’s open border crutch, allows people who remain undocumented immigrants to apply for asylum or parole to be granted legal status. It's not someone who applies for a green card and waits 10 years.”

Brennan jumped in to “thank” Vance for his response and tried to move on, but then heard Vance finish by criticizing Harris' role in the illegal immigration crisis. (Related: CBS News leadership is being harassed by Democratic donors; they're also hosting the next debate)
