Lawyers for former White House press secretary Sean Spicer are asking Mediaite to retract and apologize for an article about Pac News senior political correspondent Tara Palmeri. The Daily Caller first learned of what Spicer’s lawyer claims is “highly defamatory.”
The Caller obtained a copy of a letter sent by Spicer’s lawyer to Mediaite Editor-in-Chief Aidan McLaughlin on Tuesday. In the letter he said: piece“The Scoop Machine: Tara Palmeri, How She Got the Story (and Stayed Sane)” tells the story of how Mr. Spicer gave her a press badge when he worked in the White House. He says he refused to give it. Palmeri previously worked at Politico when Spicer was White House press secretary.
“Mediaite points out that if Mr. Spicer or someone in the Trump administration had denied journalistic credentials to a Politico reporter like Mr. Palmeri covering the White House, it would have been widely reported through public comment and reporting in the white newspaper Politico. “He definitely knew that he was deaf” House Correspondents Association and other major news organizations. “During his tenure as White House press secretary, Mr. Spicer took professional pride in approving all requests for press credentials. In no instance did he refuse to do so. Otherwise, in publishing Ms. Palmeri’s false claims, Mediaite did not adhere to basic journalistic standards prior to publication,” the letter reads. is stated.

“Mr. Spicer or Mr. Politico have not been reached for comment, and there are no publicly available facts that contradict Mr. Palmeri’s fictitious allegations. “We demand that this article be retracted, that Mediaite publish the reasons for its retraction, and apologize to Mr. Spicer.”
The Caller contacted Mediaite for comment on the letter from Spicer’s attorney, but did not immediately receive a response.
