Asked Friday what she would change if President Joe Biden were elected, Vice President Kamala Harris said she could not “criticize” any of the president’s policies.
NBC News White House correspondent Peter Alexander asked Harris to name one policy she would have implemented differently than Biden. Harris responded that she could not have a “productive and important relationship” with Biden if he criticized her policies.
“President Biden said this week that all presidents have to blaze their own path, but what is one policy he would have done differently over the last three and a half years? What if?” Alexander asked.
“I have to say frankly, including Mike Pence, the vice president has not criticized the president,” Harris responded. “I actually don’t think it’s going to be a productive or important relationship, both from a tradition standpoint and going forward…I think going forward I’m going to bring my own experiences and my own life. There’s no question about the experience. ”
Harris said she would expand Medicare, give first-time homebuyers $25,000 in down payment assistance and emphasize the importance of small businesses. She said these policies stem from her lifelong “personal experience” and assured that she would be part of a “new generation of leadership”.
