Big Tech Bends The Knee To Donald Trump

On Tuesday night, multiple Silicon Valley CEOs, from Jeff Bezos to Mark Zuckerberg, congratulated President-elect Donald Trump on his victory.

Many of the CEOs who have congratulated Trump have faced accusations of left-wing bias and censorship, and their companies have experienced backlash from conservatives. But despite Silicon Valley’s historically left-leaning leanings, several technology company CEOs praised Trump on Wednesday.

Jeff Bezos congratulated the president-elect on his “extraordinary political comeback.” Bezos owns the Washington Post, which has not endorsed the 2024 presidential election. The newspaper’s refusal to endorse Kamala Harris reportedly cost it hundreds of thousands of subscribers and sparked a backlash among its staff.

Bezos previously wrote an op-ed detailing why “Americans no longer trust the news media.” (Related: Jeff Bezos criticizes Washington Post, gives media a glimmer of hope)

This was only Bezos’ second tweet this year. In July, he tweeted support for Trump after an assassination attempt occurred at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

But both the Post and Amazon have a history of left-wing bias.

The Biden-Harris administration pressured Amazon to censor books that were skeptical of coronavirus vaccines, according to emails obtained by the House Judiciary Committee.

Notably, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy also issued a statement congratulating President Trump on his victory.

“I look forward to working with you and your administration on issues that matter to your customers, employees, communities and country,” said Mr. Jassy. (Related: Amazon confirms it shut off a random man’s smart home after he called him a racist)

Zuckerberg: “Congratulations on President Trump’s decisive victory” said In an Instagram thread. “We have great opportunities as a nation, and I look forward to working with you and your administration.”

Both Meta and Google have been accused of censorship and left-wing bias.

Zuckerberg has not endorsed the presidential election and reportedly identifies as a liberal.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai echoed Zuckerberg’s support and congratulated Trump on his “decisive victory.”

President Trump said on Joe Rogan’s podcast that Pichai called him after visiting a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania.

President Trump suggested in August that Congress could “shut down” Google over allegations of bias and censorship against conservatives.

That same month, Pichai testified before the House Oversight Committee’s Special Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government about Google’s censorship of information about Trump’s first assassination attempt.

Google’s parent company Alphabet told the committee that when users searched for “President Donald,” autocomplete search results did not show results for Trump due to a software “bug.” (Related article: Google suffers major blow after federal judge rules that it violates US antitrust law)
