Trump Taps Fox News Host For Secretary Of Defense

President-elect Donald Trump announced Tuesday night that he will nominate veteran Fox News host and veteran Pete Hegseth to be the next administration’s secretary of defense.

Since last week, President Trump has been announcing the names of his Cabinet members after winning both the electoral vote and the popular vote. He announced the Fox & Friends host’s decision to lead the Pentagon in a Truth social post Tuesday night.

“Pete has spent his life as a warrior for the military and for his country. Pete is tough, smart, and a true believer in America First. With Pete in command, America’s enemies will be on alert. “Pete has led two veterans advocacy organizations and led the fight for our nation’s Warriors and great veterans,” President Trump said. “Nobody fights harder for our military. Pete will be a brave and patriotic defender of our ‘peace through strength’ policy.”

Hegseth previously served in the military and participated in tours to Guantanamo Bay, Iraq and Afghanistan. Following his accomplishments on the battlefield, he was awarded two Bronze Stars and the Combat Infantryman Badge.

Following the announcement, Fox News Media released a statement to the Daily Caller News Foundation congratulating Mr. Hegseth on his nomination and work at the station.

His insights and analysis, especially on the military, resonated with viewers and made the show the huge success it is today. “We are extremely proud of his work at FOX News Media and wish him the best of luck in Washington,” the statement read.

Hegseth’s announcement to join the second Trump administration comes shortly after the president-elect revealed former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe as his nominee to head the CIA. The former president also appointed Republican Florida Rep. Mike Walz as White House National Security Adviser, former U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Tom Homan as the new “border czar,” and former New York Republican Rep.
