Fact check:

A Chinese fishing boat was reportedly under the control of suspected Somali pirates in Somali waters. Reuters. According to the newspaper, up to 18 crew members were on board when the ship was hijacked by suspected pirates.

Social media users claim a Somali pirate ship was destroyed by gunfire. “No more Somali pirate ships,” one user wrote. (Related: Did British Prime Minister Keir Starmer insist on cooking pork for his Jewish wife?)

This claim is false. Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact discovered that this video is from March 2017 and posted on the following site: YouTube. The title of the video is “CIWS Gatling Gun and Mk-38 Chain Gun Fire at Target Boat.”

The video description reads: “U.S. Navy sailors aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA6) load ammunition into the Close-in Weapon System (CIWS) and Mk-38 25mm chain gun for operational testing.” It is written.
