Winter driving tips:

Slow down and give yourself more distance: Slow down and leave more distance between you and the car in front of you.

Vehicle Preparation: Make sure your vehicle is in good condition, fueled, and equipped with the following:

  • ice scraper
  • shovel
  • Abrasive material (cat litter or sand)
  • jumper cable
  • Flashlight or alarm device
  • fully charged mobile phone and charger
  • Food, water, blankets, winter clothing

Please respect snowplow drivers:

Keep in mind that snowplows come in many different forms, including 10-wheelers, mini-dumps, loaders, and motor graders. For their safety and yours, give them plenty of space and stay back. Our dedicated snow removal drivers work tirelessly to keep our roads safe, so we ask that you:

  • Wait: Give the snowplow enough space.
  • No passing: The road behind the snowplow is safer than the road in front.
  • Clear the road: Clear the driving lanes and shoulders for the snowplow to operate.

For more information, please visit the “Snow Removal” link on the Yavapai County Department of Public Works and Highways website. Yavapai County Department of Public Works and Highways website.

If we all work together, we can have a safe and enjoyable winter.
