$7.5 million Maricopa County grant will help build new shelter, housing units in Phoenix

The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors approved $7.5 million for the City of Phoenix Office of Homelessness to provide emergency shelter, temporary transitional housing, and permanent supportive housing to individuals experiencing homelessness. .

Senior Bridge will develop and operate temporary transitional housing and permanent supportive housing to support seniors ages 55 and older who earn between zero and 30% of Area Median Income (AMI). I received $1,000,000. The site will include 40 non-congregate shelter/transitional housing units with bathrooms and 65 affordable apartments with bathrooms and kitchenettes. This funding will ensure that the shelter unit is ADA accessible.

The remaining $1.5 million will support Central Arizona Shelter Services (CASS) to provide individuals experiencing homelessness with 24/7 emergency shelter and essential services 365 days a year, including holidays. With this funding, clients who stayed in an emergency shelter or secured a designated bed the night before will be able to access the facility the next day.
