Former Georgia Prosecutor Says ‘Out Of Court Statements’ Helped Get Fani Willis Thrown Off Trump Case

A former Georgia prosecutor said Thursday that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ relationship with Nathan Wade was not the only reason he was disqualified from prosecuting President-elect Donald Trump.

In a 2-1 decision announced Thursday morning, the Georgia Court of Appeals dismissed Willis’ lawsuit, saying the trial court failed to “address the manifestations of wrongdoing” stemming from her relationship with Wade. Former prosecutor Phil Holloway told Fox News host Harris Faulkner that “forensic misconduct” by Willis also contributed to his disqualification. “This is an elected district attorney who takes large sums of taxpayer money, funnels it to her admitted mistress, and then gets out of that financial arrangement by virtue of all the romantic trips and vacations, etc. They’re making a profit,” Holloway told Faulkner. . “So even if it’s not a direct kickback, there’s certainly a hint of a potential kickback, and of course there’s a whiff of deception” in her testimony, they said. When she tried to explain this, no one believed her testimony.”

“But it’s more than a conflict of interest with Nathan Wade,” Holloway continued. “This is also about so-called forensic misconduct. There are out-of-court statements that Miss Willis went into the well of a local church here in Fulton County, Georgia, and there are potential voters and potential jurors there. By the way, it’s full of people. May I add, they are slandering and accusing various people. The defendant is released in public. The prosecutors are not allowed to do that, so to speak. They are not allowed to try their cases in the well.”

An appeals court bars Willis from prosecuting Trump on an indictment secured against the then-former president in August 2023 over his efforts to contest the results of the 2020 presidential election. Oral arguments on whether to do so have been canceled.

Mr. Willis denied any wrongdoing in a speech at Big Bethel AME Church on January 14, falsely claiming that he paid outside prosecutors the same fees, while calling out his critics for “signing the race.” “It’s happening,” he accused. Billing records obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation show that as of May 2023, RICO expert John Floyd was making $200 an hour while Wade worked on the case against Trump. While there, he reportedly earned $250 an hour.

Holloway said her church speech was factored into the court’s decision.

“I predicted this outcome,” Holloway told Faulkner. “She can appeal to the Georgia Supreme Court. I have news for her. The Georgia Supreme Court is not going to take this case. It’s discretionary and it doesn’t have to and won’t.” They intend to affirm the Court of Appeals, effectively ending this case.”
