As Congress was struggling in chaotic negotiations over another disastrous continuing resolution, I thought: What if we shut down the government and let the Biden administration and its incredibly brain-dead and destructive energy take over? All I could think about was how great it would be for everyone to end it. -The policy farce is a month early.
What a blessing it would be for this country if President Joe Biden’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was forced to shut down. ”Throw gold bars from the Titanic30 days earlier than scheduled. What a merry Christmas it would be if we didn’t have to hear stupid talking points based on pseudoscience from the likes of Biden’s climate policy advisor John Podesta, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, or even Biden himself (as usual) Read from his resident teleprompter) Again!
What a shame that the rest of us had to take these unscrupulous people seriously just because they held power over us for the past four years. Probably. Like Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead did for decades sing: “What a long and strange journey it has been.”
Speaking of Granholm, she provided the perfect end to this administration’s seemingly endless series of policy shenanigans this week by playing cynical political games with what was billed as serious research. This study was ostensibly a study of such importance that while we waited with bated breath for the better part of a year for its publication, we received the approval for one of this country’s great growth industries. So much so that it has become compulsory to temporarily suspend the (Related: David Blackmon: Liberals come up with a way to make climate change a little less alarming…crazy)
Of course, it was the Department of Energy (DOE). study Relates to the economic and environmental impacts of the continued growth of the U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) export industry. We heard from both Mr. Granholm and Mr. Biden in January that the need to conduct this study is so urgent that it is entirely necessary to suspend permits for new LNG export infrastructure until it is completed. I was told that there is.
The grand plan was clear. Influential DOE to implement “pause” based on highly questionable draft LNG emissions study by Cornell University researchers, then used by President Kamala Harris to implement permanent ban on new exports It was a presentation of research. Equipment. Although it seemed like a sure thing in the Biden White House, such a plan never turns out to be anything close to that.
First, the scientific basis for implementing the moratorium in the first place collapsed when the authors of the draft Cornell University study were forced to drastically lower their emissions estimates in their final report released in September.
And the DOE findings turned out to be a mixed bag proving there is no real danger allowing the industry to return to a growth trajectory.
Faced with a completed study that was essentially a big empty bag of results, Granholm decided he couldn’t simply publish it and leave it alone. Instead, someone at the DOE decided it was a great idea. leak 3 page letter The New York Times post 24 hours before publication was clearly an attempt to enrich the findings.
As the Wall Street Journal editorial board pointed out, the problem with Granholm’s letter is that put it down On Thursday, “the facts of the study contradict her conclusions.” The magazine’s editorial ticked off a list of ways Granholm’s letter exaggerates and misleads about the actual findings of the study. It added, “According to our sources, career officials at the Biden National Security Council and Energy National Laboratory disagree with Mr. Granholm’s conclusions.”
There is little doubt that this reality would have had little effect on Kamala Harris’ presidential term. Mr. Granholm and Mr. Podesta’s argument would almost certainly result in allowing a “moratorium” to become a permanent feature of U.S. energy policy. That’s what happens when “science” isn’t science at all and the realities of energy are ignored in favor of the dominant discourse on the political left.
What a blessing it would be if we could end this policy madness a month early. January 20th can’t come soon enough.
