That made a big difference in 2016, when the man Mr. Romney so denounced staged a history-shattering political comeback that confounded experts. Win all seven battleground states. Win the popular vote. Lead the Republican takeover of the Senate. Maintain control of the House of Representatives. And mop the floor with your Democratic opponents.
