Attorney Alan Dershowitz asked Democratic former Hartford, Conn., Mayor Luke Bronin on Monday to name specific crimes for which President-elect Donald Trump was convicted, but Bronin declined to respond. There wasn’t.
In May, after a weeks-long trial, a Manhattan jury found Trump guilty of 34 felonies for falsifying business records related to a non-disclosure agreement with porn actress Stormy Daniels. On “American Agenda,” Dershowitz urged Bronin to criticize Trump’s prosecution in New York, after the former mayor signaled support for prosecutors based on a jury’s guilty verdict. “[Manhattan District Attorney] Alvin Bragg scoured law books to find crimes against Donald Trump. He couldn’t do that. So he fabricated a case and prosecuted it in the weakest case I’ve ever seen in my 62 years of practice,” Dershowitz said. “And I would love to hear what my friend has to say.” [on] The Democratic Committee stood up and condemned and condemned the non-criminal prosecution of Donald Trump in New York, resulting in [34] False accusation. Please remember the following: [34] Multiplying by zero gives zero. Do you blame the prosecutor? ”
Bronin replied.
“Alan, you’re talking about the trial in which Donald Trump was found guilty by a jury of his peers,” Bronin said.
Judge Juan Melchán’s instructions to the jury did not require jurors to agree on the underlying crime that prosecutors say Trump falsified records to cover up.
“Tell me what he was convicted of. I want you to explain the crime,” Dershowitz said. “You can’t do that. There was no crime. It doesn’t matter that he was convicted by a jury.”
Bronin sidestepped the objection, instead suggesting that it was “remarkable” that Dershowitz did not believe the jury’s verdict warranted prosecution.
Dershowitz interrupted Bronin and said: This was completely illegal. ”
Newsmax host Bob Brooks ended the segment by saying he needed to move on.
Marchand ordered President Trump to attend the sentencing, either in person or online, on January 10, just 10 days before the president’s inauguration on January 20. CNN senior legal analyst Ellie Honig said Monday that Trump will receive an “unconditional removal, meaning a meaningless removal.” No jail time, no probation, no fines, no community service. ”
