Yuma – Visitors to downtown Yuma will be expecting some changes as Pilkington Construction prepares for the demolition of buildings at 185 and 197 S. Main Streets to make way for the new Yuma County Administration Services Building. You’ll notice it in no time. The building will allow county residents and others to receive multiple services in one convenient downtown location.

In the coming weeks, there will be fencing around the site complete with a walk-through tunnel between the Legacy Building (185 S. Main Street) and the Regency Main Street Cinema. To enhance pedestrian safety, a pedestrian crossing will be added mid-block between Kafecito and the northwest corner of the construction project site.

Sidewalks will be closed along the front of the project site (along part of Main Street) and along the south side of the project site (north of 2nd Street from Maiden Lane to Main Street) and partly closed. Pilkington expects construction on the new courthouse to be completed in about two years.
